Lens Nikon

What would be a good lens to start off with for the Nikon D90 ?
1st slr user buying the Nikon D90 what would be betterNikon 55-200mm f/4.0-5.6G ED AF-S DX Zoom Lens or Nikon 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 ED D Lens also does the higher the number 200,300 mean the farther the distance?
I was a new user when I bought my D90 a few months ago. It didn't take me long to learn that I didn't use the zoom anywhere near as much as I thought I would. I often shoot in the 20mm-50mm range. I have 2 lenses to recommend to you. One is the "kit" lens which you can buy as part of a package with the camera. It is 18-105mm. Lets you shoot fairly wide angle but also gives you some reach.
If you need more reach, a very popular lens is the 18-200mm VR. It gives you both wide and long shots. It is fairly highly rated by it's users because of it's versatility.
Start saving your pennies. The camera is just the start. You will end up wanting more lenses and expensive flashes. Expensive but a fun hobby.
Have fun!
