How do you pick your next lens?

I was given a Canon EOS Rebel T1i (500D) Digital SLR Kit w/EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens, for the holidays, I would love to get at least one to two more leses for it, how do I go about choosing what to get next?

I enjoy taking photos of flowers, animals, and buildings if that's any help.

Fill in where your current lens is not getting the pictures you want.

If you want to shoot WILD animals then a longer lens would seem a good idea.
A 70-300mm, perhaps, like...

Maybe a Macro lens for those really sharp close-ups on flowers.
Spring is nearly here (Honest...it is!)

And for a bit of fun, a fisheye converter (does interesting things to buildings)....

(Put it on your current zoom to get an extreme-wide-angle-to-fisheye-zoom.)
